- iPhones can only read a URL natively without an application. So if you want to replicate a contact record on an iPhone you need to use a URL to either a ".vcf" or a contact page on the web. People create their own pages or even use a platform like linktr.ee or full contact apps like HiHello. If you want an NFC tag to work with all devices the correct approach to take is a URL as it will work on everything.
- Yes you can. NFC tags with the standard kind of chip like the NTAG213 range can simply be locked completely and others can have a page(s) of data locked. Please note when the lock action action has taken place you can not reverse it ever - so it is permenant.
- The reading distance is determined by the size of the antenna more than anything else. So we always say biggest is best depending on the space available for the tag. It can also be affected by the antenna material - so copper normally used in covered objects like a PPS or ABS disc will perform better at a smaller size than Aluminium. The ICODE chip is recognised as performing better in very small tags than the NTAG21x but a lot of software providers do not support the use of the ICODE.
- You can print on our stickers using a heat transfer printer if required in black and white. A good example for this is a SATO CL4NX where you can print and encode at the same time! But for small volumes it is just as easy to have standard stickers printed and place one of our NFC stickers like a wet inlay on the back before being applied. Often the most cost effecient approach.
- We can print a black image on our NFC stickers that come on a reel when requested, but for any quality colour printing we produce these at the time of manufacturing the products. We do this as an NFC sticker has an IC chip inside and this tyically is thicker than the sticker itself and causes a bulge. So printing and trying missing the bulge limits the printing area and if you dont miss the bulge the print quality is never 100% and elements of the design will be missing. We print on the PVC or PET as a flat sheet before being cut and added when the NFC sticker is put together.
- For the highest quality priting on a PVC or PET base we will use offset printing. Sometimes with variable printing Digital Printing will be required especially if the variable data needs to be in a special colour. For hard plastics these can only take screen printing or engraving. We always will communicate the method being used and expected results when working through the proofing process of your required design.
